Abstract
The present study aimed to validate the Korean version of the Dimensional Anhedonia Rating Scale (DARS), designed to measure various dimensions of anhedonia. The study sample included 290 undergraduate and graduate students. We conducted the exploratory factor analysis on half of the randomly selected data and confirmatory factor analysis with the remaining half. According to the exploratory factor analysis, the Korean version of DARS had same four factors identified in Rizvi et al. (2015). The factors were differentiated according to four types of rewards: pastimes/hobbies, food/drinks, social activities, and sensory experience. As a result of confirmatory factor analysis, the 4 factor model showed a reasonable model fit. In addition, the fit of the hierarchical factor model consisting of 4 lower factor and 1 higher order factor was acceptable, and it was concluded that it is reasonable to use the total score to measure anhedonia. The reliability of the Korean version of DARS and its subscales was excellent level. The DARS showed good convergent, concurrent and divergent validity. This result indicated good psychometric properties and suggest that the DARS can be usefully used for future research to measure anhedonia. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study were discussed with suggestions for future studies.
